grid beam is meant to last beyond the life of the things which are built with it. It's durable and reusable. This should affect our design and construction choices.
wherever possible, design for disassembly.
favor nuts and bolts, zip ties, hook and catch, rope ties, and other reversible attachment methods. avoid glue, screws, nails, staples, tape, and other destructive attachment methods.
favor lengths of beam in even one-foot increments. this avoids continually re-cutting beams, resulting in a collection of nearly-useless one, two, and three hole beams.
use tri-joints wherever possible. they greatly increase the strength and rigidity of grid beam structures.
